A child-headed household is a family in which a minor aged eighteen years or younger is responsible for their siblings. These children are forced to survive without parental care, deal with the lack of consistent income and encounter emotional strain placing them at risk of abuse and exploitation.
This household set-up is a reality to one particular scholar of Khutsong, looking after three of her siblings.
To lend a hand, the Carletonville branch team initiated a community project that collected and donated groceries as well as a pair of school shoes to this family. Furthermore, eight more families were too, able to benefit to their efforts as a result.
The community at Cross Road Section, Khutsong and Ubank customers appreciated their efforts and invited them to return in order to educate other community members about Ubank’s products.
